Should MCB Hawaii take down this sign?

Mikey Weinstein said if the base continues to allow the sign to stand where it is, they would have to allow other signs that said, “There is no God to bless our military, their families, and the civilians who work with them,” and signs alluding to “Allah, Satan or the flying spaghetti monster...Mikey Weinstein who told the Marine Corps Times that 23 active-duty Marines made the organization aware of the sign. Weinstein said 21 of those Marines are Protestant, and they have all been unwilling to lodge formal complaints with their chain of command for fear of retaliation.”

No CPO Andy Carrillo, MS I don't think that the USMC Base in Hawaii should be forced to take down the sign which simply states "God Bless the Military, their families, and the civilians who work with them."
The sign is not advocating a specific God and our currency still states "In God we Trust"
it is sad; but, not unsurprising that Mikey Weinstein would try to draw attention to the "evil" of the USMC allowing a sign of this nature to be produced and displayed on a military base.

Christians are protected by freedom of speech, too. I believe "the people" of the United States has forgotten this point.

The thinking here is ridiculous. If someone is being prayed for and there is a God (which I fully believe in) they the only thing that may happen is that that prayer is answered. If someone is prayed for and there is no God....Then nothing....nothing gained, nothing lost. The logic is clear, those who choose to bring issue are in all actually opposed to this principal and our only out to cause chaos and destruction, the opposite of the intent. True atheists would not care one way or the other because it didn't matter. True Satanists also wouldn't care because they really don't believe in God or the Devil and are about self preservation, which again, this would not matter.

It's not the praying that is the issue. It's really not about endorsement either. What is the real issue that Noone wants to admit to?

Government was not formed to endorse any religion, it was formed to protect our rights to freedom of religion and freedom of life without government oppression. Leaving up the sign is not an endorsement of that religion but it rather an endorsement of Democracy!

If other religions want to put up signs, they are protected by the same freedom than these Christians. I have been consistent in all of my statements. It seems you are being argumentative for the sake of arguing and I've seen enough of that in my life.

I think it would be hilarious to see "Allah Bless Our Military". Religious people would be up in arms. Fights would break out at the PX and the chapel. It would cause much consternation. But these ignorant people don't know that 'Allah' means 'God' the same way 'biblioteca' means 'library'. Arabic Christians pray to 'Allah' because that's what the word means. Oh, and Satanists don't pray to Satan as they are atheists. They invoke the idea of Satan to be troll Christians the way some Southerners crowd around and swing the Confederate Flag. That comparison is more true than you'd initially think.

I agree with in principle. There would be a serious uproar if there was a sign that said Allu Akbar, or Allah Blesses the US Military or country. You'd have every sudo-extremist Christian coming out of the woodwork screaming America is a country of Christians, yet have no problem with Buddism, Jews, Paganism, etc. Mention Islam and instantly you believe in Sharia law, you're a terrorist and every dumb stereotype comes into play.

SGT Curtis Earl, I would love to see your sign placed next to this one and have a hidden camera to video all the crazies come out.
