Should i forego EOD reclass for the the opportunity to be a part of an SMU? https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/should-i-forego-eod-reclass-for-the-the-opportunity-to-be-a-part-of-an-smu

Long story short i have had my EOD packet approved by proponent. After submitting that packet I received an email inviting me to apply for an SMU. Just looking for advice from seniors as I am torn at the moment. Any advice on whether i should stick with the reclass or try the leap into an SMU is appreciated. Those emails are auto-generated to everyone in the Army who meets certain criteria - usually GT, MOS and clearance
Especially if that SMU is USASED or JSOC, don't expect to be hired on your first application. It's even part of the briefing that they give, most people will be rejected the first time and told what they can do to be more competitive on your next application. Part of it is that you're a relatively new NCO.

The application process takes about 90 days. Send in your application, if you're approved then drop your EOD class. Absolutely DO NOT drop your EOD class just to submit a SMU application. Everything you do has short term and long term actions. Choose whichever is going to get you closer to your overall big picture goal. I took the opportunity to be apart of something special a long time ago. Never once have I regretted it. If it’s a no go go do EOD 1SG Private RallyPoint Member Sun, 07 Feb 2021 11:50:50 -0500 2021-02-07T11:50:50-05:00 Response by SSG George Holtje made Feb 9 at 2021 2:52 AM https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/should-i-forego-eod-reclass-for-the-the-opportunity-to-be-a-part-of-an-smu?n=6731708&urlhash=6731708

Can you reclass and eventually go SMU. Graduating the EOD school is a big door opener in the military and post military. SSG George Holtje Tue, 09 Feb 2021 02:52:59 -0500 2021-02-09T02:52:59-05:00 2021-02-06T19:15:07-05:00
