Should I expect to be short a paycheck soon if the Army paid me BAH 2 months ago, and now says that I am in debt?

The army paid me bah for some reason 2 months ago, and it says im in debt, should i be worried about missing a paycheck or can i talk to someone about the amount that could be taken out every check ?

Talk to your S-1. Sooner the better. Anytime you notice your paychecks are getting fatter than they should you should flag it, talk to S-1 and don't spend that money because eventually they will get back around to you and take their money back. If you catch it you can sort out a plan but unfortunately the most common solution is that Kansas City will withhold until the balance is cleared. Something similar happened to me when I was in. The S-1 Chief said it might be travel claim money because I recently PCS'd but I knew I wasn't expecting any. I pushed that extra money to savings for a rainy day and sure enough I didn't get paid a full check for a month. Once the money I was overpaid was withdrawn from my checks I started getting paid normal again. Luckily I saved the money and it ended up serving as a cash advance I never asked for.

They will not take your entire paycheck to pay the debt. The debt will be taken in payments over however long it will be. the length is determined by the amount and some other things. I would recommend you contact your S1 to ensure your BAH paperwork is now set properly and then Finance office to see how much the payments will be. I highly doubt you will get a No Pay Due LES.

At some point they will take what they say you owe.
They can take it quickly, as opposed to when they “owe” you it takes some time.
Always stay aware of what you should be paid and immediately report inconsistencies. Never spend that extra-as it will be recalled at some point.

I highly recommend you to go to finance to get a better understanding of why you actually have the debt and what options will you have to pay it back.

You need to submit a pay inquiry with your S-1 as soon as possible. They take quite a bit of time to resolve.
