Should I do something about my unit not posting the presidents portrait on the chain of command?

I've been at my unit several months and there is no picture of my commander in chief on the wall where the chain of command is displayed. Pictures have been updated as changes are made except for the case of the president. Is this something to be irritated about or am I flustered over nothing?

You could just ask, I'm not sure if it's necessary... however it seems to strange to omit the POTUS. He should be up there because of the position he holds, not because he's a swell guy. Putting his picture up isn't an endorsement of Trump, its simply an acknowledgement of the chain of command.

Bring it up to your chain of command. I do not think it's deliberate as the CiC is obvious. We never had pictures of any of ours. We were just responsible for knowing them. That was nearly forty years ago, however. Maybe things have changed. Lol

I remember times when the official photo that you had to get through official channels only was not available as they were out of stock. So we had to wait until the gov printing office made another batch of them to get a picture.

Suggest you use the open door policy and ask your 1SG or CDR why a picture of the president isn't hanging up there? But first ask yourself, how long has the picture been missing? It's nothing to be irritated about or flustered but you're within your right to ask; just don't lose your composure if you're not happy with the answer you get.

I suppose it comes down to your give-a-darn level. If former President Obama is still hanging around on the unit wall with the rest of the chain of command, then it could be a problem. If the chain of command on said wall stops at some one like an Army MACOM commander, then it's probably no big deal. Beware being a squeaky-wheel PFC.

I would ask why it hasn't been done yet the current unit commander should have seen to it. If his or her ugly mug is up there then our Presidents photo should be too. No Freaking Excuses, he is the top dog in our Chain of Command. WTF !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Find a nice photo on the internet, have the newspaper or library print it and ask the commander if you can post it for your unit?

Go directly to the President. Write a letter to the White House asking if they could send a frameable photo for your command since they were missing one. It may take a few weeks, but there will be a photo on the wall. Bad news rolls downhill quickly.

Where does the chain-of-command picture stop? In my office hallway it stops at POTUS and goes down to CSM. I have seen some stop at the command's CO.

Thank you everyone for your input. I will go ahead and ask first sergeant. There is a slot for the presidents portrait but it has been empty since before I arrived in November. All other units I've been a part of have had the presidents portrait where appropriate which is why it I thought it was unusual.

Our CiC picture had to come through official channels. No one would have noticed or mentioned it if we printed one for ourselves and hung it up, but we didn't. The one of President Obama and VP Biden came down pretty quick (not a political statement, just outdated), but President Trump's pic didn't show up for a while.

I would suggest looking at other units on your post/base to see if their chain of command photos have been updated. (I'm lucky enough to work "off-site," so I have no idea we have the photo.) You can look at the exchange or commissary, they usually have the photos hanging somewhere near the entrance. It may be that the official photo hasn't made its way down to the unit level. If other units have the photo and your unit doesn't, then it may be time to ask.

I'd say something if other portraits have been updated but POTUS not. Ran into this with Obama and had to crush some nuts, doesn't matter if you like, agree with or support the POTUS policies but it's inappropriate not to recognize their place in the food chain.

Have you mentioned it to someone? Or just bitched about it online? I've seen 1SG and commander pictures stay empty at units. Some units are lazy. Some aren't - shit I just saw the one at work change from the stern one of Trump to a smiling one.

President Trump didn't get his official photo taken until last November so that may be why your command has not been displaying his photo yet. They cannot just download any old photo off the internet and put it up. In my office we have the President, AG, and director of the agency on the wall also and President Trump's official photo was not delivered until about mid to late March.

Regardless of how some people feel about the current president (including myself) he is still the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces and should be shown with the chain of command. The president is the president. Deal with it.
