Should I contact my G1 or Inspector General?

I'm waiting for my DD FORM 368
It's currently on the desk of the 1 star general.
I have been counseled by my recruiter to contact the Inspector General, however my Reserve unit is persuading me otherwise, no grounds.
I have heard that people have gone to the signing authorities in person or by calling.
Would it be bad for me to contact the S1 at Division as A PFC and ask for some update?

I have gone all the way up to my commander but it's now deployed so I don't have that resource now.

I have also talked to the road as well as my retention nco. No one really had any visibility on it anymore because it's in a different state.

This isn't an IG issue.

You're obviously out of place by calling S1, but be respectful, and make it clear that you've gone through your chain and gotten no answer. Be prepared for fallout.

I wouldn’t contact anyone cause it’s up to the commander if he or she wanna releases you and if they chose not to release you then there is no rebuttal! Also what reason you trying to get release and don’t just say you wanna go active lol

You can do that without any trouble- it's your right to know what your status is, just be polite

SPC(P) Private RallyPoint Member the last thing you want to do is aggravate the approving authority by pestering his/her staff or their IG. They told you up front it would take up to a year. You submitted your packet before the holidays in December so it's not going to move during that month. It's only been 3 full months and you are already aggravating your chain of command about your packet.

Let me give you a piece of advice. Your recruiter is going to tell you to do things that may threaten your packet being approved. With that being said, if you have been told that your packet is on his desk, that is a good sign. However that doesn't mean that your packet is the only thing on his desk. You need to stop and let the staff do their job. In the meantime, you need to focus on preparing for active duty.

If you are waiting for the General to sign off, try to get the BN/BDE support to talk to your General. It isn't an IG issue. An IG issue would be more like mine, where the Chain of Command refused to get me contact information of superiors to check the status of my 368,and tossing my 368 packets without my permission (or proper disapproval) without my knowledge, and hazing me for requesting the status for 3 years. Until last week when we received a new commander, did my packet get routed to BN.

I feel like it's your right to search for information if no one gives you any answers. Like others have said, be respectful and tactfully when approaching paperwork situations because some people have ego problems about skipping your chain of command. I had to do this years ago because my brigade sat on my paperwork for four months and no one gave me answers.
