It is our money so why can't we do with it as we please. Taking off car payments and rent is ridiculous. Since direct deposit is mandatory (or darned near it, if not mandatory), personnel can make car payments, rent payments, and many other payments with an automatic transfer from the bank where they receive their pay. I'm guessing that's at least part of the thinking behind the change.
