It sets the term limits at 12 years(2 terms) serving in the senate and 6 years(3 terms) Assuming that currently elected officials would able to finish their currents terms, it means that we will have 35% of the senate will have to be brand new next election. And for the house the number is 65%. Individuals who run for these should be extremely qualified for the position. If they aren’t I’m not sure clearing out the old will even help us as much as we hope it would. Now if they set a limit somehow like, for example, every election from this point until every member meets term requirements no more than the top 20% highest tenured congress members maybe for forced out. It would obviously take a few extra election cycles but it would also prevent any crazy mishaps caused by a massive regime change all at once.
https://www.google.com/url?sa=i&source=undefined&cd=&ved=0ahUKEwi_jo-p8dvfAhXTad4KHWk6CAEQzPwBCAM&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.businessinsider.com%2Fted-cruz-term-limit-amendment-term-senate-2019-1&psig=AOvVaw2CgHum9DFlxljlnk7lvE5v&ust= [login to see] 92606

Error 400 (Bad Request)!!1

Mon, 07 Jan 2019 09:36:20 -0500 Senator Ted Cruz introduced legislation that could lead to term limits. But, I would like a recall provision if it did. MCPO Roger Collins Mon, 07 Jan 2019 09:43:34 -0500 2019-01-07T09:43:34-05:00 Response by SGT Kevin Berman made Jan 7 at 2019 2:25 PM https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/senator-ted-cruz-introduced-legislation-that-could-lead-to-term-limits-how-serious-of-an-impact-could-this-have-if-implemented-immediately?n=4266786&urlhash=4266786

I would also add a provision stating if you serve a full term (12 and 6) as either senator or representative, you have to sit out a period of years (4?) before running again. That would keep senators and representatives from jumping between each side of the Congress. SGT Kevin Berman Mon, 07 Jan 2019 14:25:09 -0500 2019-01-07T14:25:09-05:00 Response by LTC Stephen B. made Jan 8 at 2019 3:09 PM https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/senator-ted-cruz-introduced-legislation-that-could-lead-to-term-limits-how-serious-of-an-impact-could-this-have-if-implemented-immediately?n=4269657&urlhash=4269657

First of all, it wouldn't happen immediately. Constitutional amendments are intentionally long, deliberative processes for obvious(?) reasons. Second, you can bet that every serving member of Congress would seek to be grandfathered under the previous rules (no limit) or have the clock not start until the final passage, THEN start counting terms of office from that date forward.

I'd like to see Congressional pensions removed completely - elected office is supposed to be public service, not a career in and of itself. Give your time, then come back and live under the laws you passed for the rest of us. LTC Stephen B.
