LCpl Mark Lefler, PERIOD! None of our elected officials have the 'gumption' to challenge any one. They will not stand up for the personal beliefs we understood them to embrace when we voted them into office! Small wonder we; the people feel betrayed!

Great Article. Sounds like a tough, independent thinker, doesn't fall into the "Pack Mentality". Sounds like the Republicans that I remember from my 21 years in the Navy.

Agree, it helps illustrate how our current society rewards divisive, far-left or far-right rhetoric over compromise. One line in the article: "What if you recognize that running the United States is ultimately about working within the system, persuading the skeptics, and accepting difficult compromises?" Made me think about Trump likely not working within the system or compromising, and then I thought about Obama's record of not working within the system or compromising, and it made me realize we don't reward compromising leaders...we reward ideologues.
