Senate rejects benefit extension for same sex couples. Guess gay vets don't bleed red. What are your thoughts?

This makes me froth at the mouth. Every vet deserves to have their families covered not just straight ones.

So wrong on so many level! Not one MF republican potential candidate voted for it. Dying to see how they are going to court the vote after that debacle. Let the backpedaling begin!

While I agree that Federal benefits should be extended to all eligible persons, regardless of the state they live in. While true that it could cost them a few votes in the future, I assume they just voted their true opinions and those of their constituents, not just pandering to the liberal media like Democrats do so well. It is not really a "benefit" issue, so much as it is a comment on the whole topic of gay marriage, which, in my opinion, is immoral and unnatural.

Thank you COL Jean (John) F. B. I appreciate your honesty. That's why its called a discussion. Funny you should say that because I just posted in another discussion almost to your exact words that elected officials should vote their conscious and the will of their constituents. Perfect timing. This and related topics on gender identification are very sharp double edge swords.
PS: I never down vote. Everyone is entitled to their opinions, that's why we wore the uniform.

Hooah ... I was just getting your attention. I follow your comments and must admit that I typically agree with all you say. (Note that I removed the down-vote and edited my comments).

COL Jean (John) F. B. No worries sir. I have mutual respect for your points of view and like I said its why we have discussions. I appreciate the gesture.
PS: Sir, you were awarded my last available thumbs up for the day, LOL!

Does anyone actually expect politicians to change the culture? As I look back at all of the great cultural shifts - the end of slavery, women's suffrage, equal rights - Congress didn't respond until We the People led the way. Why should this be any different?

What does one have to do with the other? Why would a federal law benefiting federal employees affecting federal agencies and federal benefits matter at the state level?
