Seasoned over new recruit?

Would you want a seasoned SPC set in there ways and habits or PVT-PFC who just got out of AIT?

For the PAO field I want a new recruit. Our job is very high profile so molding them early is key

It depends on what I want them for. If it is to fill a specific need like a gunner on a deployment, I'd rather have one that has done the job before. If it is just to fill a vacant slot in the MTOE, I'd rather have the PVT-PFC to learn from the ground up and have the ability to be promoted in recognition of that growth.

Either way, the standards are the same...the approach may be slightly different. Enforce the standards for the SPC versus teach and then enforce the standards for the new troop.
