BRITISH Special Forces have used a “mannequin army” of shop dummies to lure dozens of Islamic State (ISIS) fighters into an ambush in eastern Syria, military sources have revealed.

The operation targeted an ISIS unit that had been making repeated strikes on Kurdish Peshmerga forces.

The top-secret mission took place two weeks ago near the town of Bussayrah, close to the Euphrates River, and involved a joint force of UK and American troops.

At least a dozen shop mannequins were dressed in Kurdish combat uniforms before being flown in by members of the SAS.

Some were posed holding weapons, as if on lookout, while others were arranged to look like they were sleeping or talking.

Within hours IS fighters, tipped off by local tribesmen, arrived and attacked the buildings with rocket-propelled grenades.

The Special Forces unit, which had lain in wait in three separate groups, opened fire, trapping the insurgents in the open ground and preventing any escape.

Last night a senior Army officer said: "Sometimes you have to think like the enemy in order to defeat your enemy.

"If you can force him to come to you at a time of your choosing then stun him with surprise, you will succeed."

Old School. The Brits are masters of deception. Remember 'Rupert' being air dropped just prior to the Normandy invasion?

The Brits are great at this. They had a complete army of inflatable tanks and trucks for Patton before D-Day.

It takes a dummy to catch a dummy, it would seem.
Even when hunting over a baited plot.
