You can either agree or disagree with the program. Regardless of personal opinions, a sexual assault or sexual harassment is a unit readiness killer. To those of you who does not agree with the program, what would you propose instead? To those of you who agree with it, how are you making sure that your subordinates and peers understand the importance of changing our culture?

I constantly tell my Soldiers that if anyone within the unit or the building we share with other units, harasses or assaults them in any way, tell me right away and I will put legal foot to ass. They have always been told that those actions are not tolerated whatsoever and to report it no matter who it is. If its Mr. Rogers making unwanted advances/comments, report it. Had a soldier once, during an APFT, begin to tell a joke that had inappropriate language in regards to the female Soldiers present. On the first word I heard that didn't suite the situation, I got into his ear and let him know. Needless to say, he never did it again.

I have to be the best I can within the unit. Not only as an NCO, but the NCOIC. We have a 13 person unit. If one Soldier drops from a mission, for whatever reason, I am already in the black for mission effectiveness. I cant afford to lose anyone...especially over sexual harassment/assault.

I personally bring up the current "Leaders" being charged and convicted to show that no one is immune.

I placed the word Leaders in quotations because anyone who utilizes their grade or position to force their will on any Soldier is not a Leader in my book.
It is disgusting to see some of the things going on. Before I took over my Platoon was affected by a case of inappropriate acts from an NCO. I cannot comment more than that as I was not here for it. Had I been I would have ensured to handle it before it was out of control.
