I have found the diversity of thoughts, the contributions of information, and the personalities that drive the content are very engaging. I have learned much from the interchanges of ideas and knowledge.

In my case it wasn’t a “what “ but a who ,a certain CPT that introduced me to the RP community.for me the best way of contributing is to relate my experiences in the Military and in Vietnam with the people who wear or have worn the uniform and taken the Oath ,they above all know the cost and the privilege of serving our Country.

I Joined to connect with people and to engage in professional discussions. The best way to contribute content for me is to produce doctrinally and regulatory correct responses coupled with my experience and impressions of how things work. I guess I work too hard at this and should just copy and paste unresearched click bait and repost Wikipedia and call it content. I've apparently come at this all wrong.

I was pretty down and feeling depressed. I googled army forums and found RallyPoint. I figured I would find some like minded people. I found that I had knowledge that others didn't and it made me feel useful/gave me a purpose.
It's been years and I just recently became active again. The amount of lower enlisted, or even NCOs asking questions on here without checking Regs makes me feel really useful :D
privates/NCOs/lower ranked officers: keep asking questions without checking the ARs. It makes me feel useful.

I would say to anyone seeking to respond to give some thought to what you are trying to say. Intelligent response tend to engender the same in return. A confrontational post generally does not accomplish the outcome you seek. You can easily disagree without choosing to confront and insult the person or their posting about a given subject.

Without the exchange of a myriad of ideas between people, we will likely leave by the side of a road the very solution we seek or that many others may need to resolve a problem or issue. One example we can all as Americans point to is our US Constitution. Even a cursory read of history of the First Continental Convention demonstrably shows how even the great men who put this document together exchanged a lot of different ideas to form this government we now have. Without their arguments and varied ideations we would certainly have not achieved this outcome.

Also, I would offer a very small suggestion relative to those you indicated that you muted or blocked. Without engaging them at some point we cannot educate and inform them. We need not convert them to one point or the other. What needs to be done during discussions is some way show them that other ideas and viewpoints can stimulate thought. Even our most virulent opposition can be shown differences are as important as our shared similarities. After all each remains defined as humans and we each grow in the manner in which we are shown. In that same vein, we are all able to see new things and change to one degree or the other. As the old axiom goes we attract more with honey than with vinegar. None of us choose or like to be shown we may be incorrect in our assumptions, beliefs or chosen viewpoint and positions. But, we do enjoy being lauded or applauded. Sometimes we have to change our approach and this can lead to others find agreement with us and at the very least it may cause them to take pause and take a second look at both their views as well as the offered posture of others.

PO3 Phyllis Maynard To stay linked with a community where I grew up as a milbrat (??) from 1940 through 1956 and my Army service from 1959 to 1962. It is interesting to see the evolution of military society that parallels civilian society while the core values that make the underlying institution great remain sound. I am proud to have served my short time long ago
