Rather than submitting a stand-alone book, I'm providing a "world."

Terry Pratchett created the Discworld, which simply put is a large flat disc of a world that sits on the back of four giant elephants, who ride on a giant turtle who travels through space.

It is a universe similar to our own, and is somewhere between a parody & a satire.

For the military man, I recommend starting with Guards Guards! as it most closely aligns with our sense of service, however your can literally start with any book in the series, and read them in any order.

Enjoy!
