He was a nice person and very good at his MOS but he took the section vehicle (HUMMV) home overnight during his drill weekend. His commander tossed him out of the unit. I don't think he was demoted; i heard he went to another unit. That surprised the heck out of me I never thought someone like him who who had people sense but somehow lacked judgement and common sense. I worked for a VA Director who I used to kid with about still being there. As the staff would always have rumors of his employment demise. Well one day I learned that his assigned government owned Crown Vic was at the local credit union. So when he and I crossed paths, I once again kid with him that I heard where his Crown Vic was and the staff are wondering why he suspended a VA Police Officer who took the government own police car to the local drug store, but his car can go to the credit union. So much for kidding, he was pissed. Demanded to know who told me. He asked who was in the car, I told him I didn't see it so I didn't know, but for him to check with his secretary for she would have had to issue the keys. (Turned out it was one of his favorite employees who used to hook him up with sporting event tickets) Well, he tried his best to take an action against me and after 22 years (at the time) of impeccable service, I received my one and only written counseling letters. Ya see, if you misuse a government vehicle it's an automatic 30 day suspension, no questions asked. Did his bootlegger ticket scalper get suspended, no friggin' way.
