This code confounded the Japanese Imperial Army. Navajo Code Talkers saved many American lives in the Pacific Campaign from 1942-1945 working alongside with the USMC. During the first two days of Iwo Jima there were over 800 messages perfectly sent and received. Great respect for their service to this nation.Response by CPT Jacob Swartout made Jun 4 at 2014 9:02 PM2014-06-04T21:02:36-04:002014-06-04T21:02:36-04:00MSG Private RallyPoint Member143969

Just read about this. Mr. Elliott served his country during the Korean War as a radio operator on the USS Chief. He served two tours earning the Korean President Unit Citation, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Service Medal, and the United Nations Service Medal . He was married for 62 years and had four children, 14 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

The family has requested two veterans (preferably navy vets) to fold the flag. This will be a very simple and short ceremony with only the flag folding and the playing of taps. If you can volunteer to fold the flag please contact me during staging.

There are few ways better to celebrate the Fourth of July than standing for one of those who stood to give us this freedom.

Please join us for this very brief service.

Details are as follows...

Date: Friday, 04 JUL 14
Staging: 9:15 AM
Briefing: 9:30 AM
Location: Stage on circle drive at the cemetery visitor center and office, Salisbury National Cemetery, Salisbury, NC.
Map to Location: http://goo.gl/maps/77Byg

After the briefing we will proceed to the pavilion to establish flag line for arrival of the Hero.

Salisbury National Cemetery – Annex, Staging Location & Procedure...

STAGING: Participants are requested to not enter through the main entrance when staging for a NCPG Mission. Please enter off of Brenner Ave. just past the railroad tracks and VFW, via the next road on the left (beside Surplus Hospital Supply Store).

PARKING: When parking the bikes around the pavilion circle or on any drive or roadway, the administration has instructed us to stay beyond the coach parking area (waste receptacle) with no more than two wide, staying to the far right and keeping a clear lane open to the left for emergency and/or other vehicles. Any excess bikes and all cages are to park behind the family/guests or in the far circle nearest the VA Medical Center.

NOTE: The National Cemetery is on Federal property; please adhere to the posted rules and regulations. Speed limit is 19 MPH, NO parking on the grass (NO exceptions), it is a weapon free zone, NO knifes or any other items that can be considered as a weapon is allowed on any Federal property or installation. Please be aware of these rules and abide by them at all times. Most of all, we need to be respectful of other burial services that are in progress upon our arrival. Keep the noise to a minimum when entering and leaving the cemetery. Leave the property in as good, if not better, a condition as it was when we arrived. Abide by the Ride Captain In Charge's (RCIC), his/her instructions and briefing.

The weather for Friday is expected to be very hot.
