Requirements to be eligible for the AGCM?

To be eligible for the the AGCM, do you need three years of active duty time in just the Army or is it just three of active duty military time in general? I’m currently active duty Army and was previously active duty in the marine corps

I just looked in AR 600-8-22, and it doesn't specifically say that the time in the Marines doesn't count. However, being as the medal is called the Army Good Conduct Medal, I would gather that it is to be just the time served in the Army.

SPC Dontavius Reese - A good conduct medal is only for the current branch of service. You cannot get an AGCM based on service in another branch. It is three years in the current branch. If you were in the USMC for three years, you should've received a NGCM.

It would be 3 years active duty in the Army, Good Conduct Medals are branch specific but are considered personal awards.

For example: if you completed a full 3 years active duty in the Marines, you would have received a Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal. Once you switch to the Army and you do another 3 years on active duty in the Army, you will receive the Army Good Conduct Medal. You will be able to wear both, however the Army Good Conduct will take precedence. Hope this helps!
