Remember our fallen comrades this weekend. https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/remember-our-fallen-comrades-this-weekend

On Memorial Day weekend, I like to honor all those who served our great country. I especially want to remember members of my own family. The Japanese in the South Pacific killed my uncle Monte. They never recovered is body. My father was in the same squad when a machinegun ambushed them, killing nine soldiers in the squad. My dad was not wounded. He named me after my uncle even though Monte was his nickname.
My father went on to serve a total of 35 years in the Army to include three wars and two tours in Vietnam. (He had a break in service.) My uncle Royal, now deceased, served a full career in the Air Force. My middle name is Royal – after him. My stepfather, Raymond Macera, also deceased, was a POW in Germany during WWII. He went on to serve 20 years in the Infantry.
I might mention that I was a career Army man, and my son, Monte, is in the Air Force with 22 years. Quite a legacy. Remember the veterans of your family.
