They say “absence makes the heart grow fonder”. As much as this statement is true in life, it certainly is true for Star Trek, specifically Trek on television. This May, it will have been a decade since we have last seen Star Trek broadcast as a weekly series. On May 13th, 2005, the Enterprise episode entitled “These Are The Voyages…” aired and it capped off an interesting period in Trek fandom because it not only marked the end of Enterprise...

I enjoy it.

Not every episode of Ent is gold. Some are down-right awful (stop smiling, Capt. Janeway, you had your off-moments, too). But really, I'm enjoying the experience. You actually caught me in the middle of season 2, so I guess I better revisit this thread when I'm done.

Might have something more intelligent to say then "uh, yup".Response by SPC Private RallyPoint Member made May 14 at 2015 5:23 PM2015-05-14T17:23:02-04:002015-05-14T17:23:02-04:00SGT(P) Private RallyPoint Member668538

If you can get past the more-horrible-than-you-can-imagine opening theme the series has several promising episodes, but the series never hit a stride and as a prequel had a difficult time finding it's identity.Response by SGT(P) Private RallyPoint Member made May 14 at 2015 5:37 PM2015-05-14T17:37:48-04:002015-05-14T17:37:48-04:00PO1 John Miller669330

Meh. I tried watching this show when it first came out, couldn't do it. I tried again when it came on Netflix. As Roddenberry said, "Horatio Hornblower in space". Granted, I'm Navy and a history teacher, so the idea Hornblower/Captain Cook's voyages in space appeals to me more than pushing a narrative via a story.
In that regard, I think ENTERPRISE did very well on my rewatch, truly doing that exploring (hated the music and the limited appearance of the starship herself, but the visuals on the intro actually follow with that exploring theme) the final frontier, and wish they had more time to do more of the new species discovered.Response by LCDR Private RallyPoint Member made Sep 24 at 2019 12:29 PM2019-09-24T12:29:04-04:002019-09-24T12:29:04-04:002015-05-14T17:18:11-04:00
