Reenlistment: How did you do it and where?

I heard lots of stories of where and how Soldiers reenlisted from in plane on way to deployment, in gas chamber, or in river in Iraq. Where and how did you reenlist? How do you plan to do your next one?

First two were in Iraq. I did one with two other guys in front of our Aircraft, the second one was while sitting in the front seat of an Apache over the radio with the Warrant in the backseat. My third and final reup was done in our Hangar with my OIC (CW5)

I did my first reenlistment (1990) at Check Point Charlie, West Berlin, a month before they removed it and put it into a museum

Most of mine were just run of the mill reenlistments, but I did have one that was special to me. I was stationed with the 3rd US Infantry (The Old Guard) for four years, and reenlisted at the Tomb of the Unknowns. That was something I will always remember.

As a Warrant Officer I have reenlisted Soldiers on top of Bradley's, Hesco walls while deployed, signal towers while deployed, in front of military base gates or monuments in base, even the Space Needle in Seattle. When I was enlisted I reenlisted at a Buffaloe Soldier Monument in Junction City Kansas and in the motor pool on a Bradley.

I did one under the crossed sabers, but I facilitated a reenlistment on an objective (after it got secured) of two ODA members

When I was a Captain, I did my father-in-laws, CSM Danberry, reenlistment at Mount Rushmore, SD.

Wherever and in whatever manner is meaningful to the Soldier.
I will give latitude right up to the line of parody. (but not beyond - judgement call.)

Just a month ago I reenlisted at a waterfall on Oahu. Most others do it on the USS Missouri or Koko Head or at 25th ID Headquarters, but we did it here:

Second-to-last: North drive of the White House.

When I was serving on Active Duty Status with NMCB-3 in Rota Spain in 1992. I requested that the Alfa Company Commander Lt. Preble be the Reenlisting Officer. I asked to be Reenlisted on top of this Water tower on the Base. We climbed a couple hundred feet up the tower to the upmost platform. That is where the traditional Reenlisting ceremony was conducted. Thanks Lt. for not being afraid of heights.
