Reenlisting as Active Duty and reclassing. Will I get BAH at training? https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/reenlisting-as-active-duty-and-reclassing-will-i-get-bah-at-training

I originally enlisted with the Guard and received BAH during IET based on my HOR. I am reenlisting active duty and reclassing as a 35P, which will put me back in TRADOC for quite a while. Will I still get BAH even though I am active duty? The difference in pay would be substantial. FYI I am single, no dependents, but I have a mortgage to pay. Tue, 16 Feb 2021 13:52:16 -0500 Reenlisting as Active Duty and reclassing. Guard pay is different from active duty. Once you go active, because you are single with no dependents, you will not receive BAH.

I would highly suggest listing your house for sale now as you will not be able to double dip i.e live in the barracks (which single soldiers do) and collect BAH. If you're renting the house you shouldn't need BAH, if you're not renting the house you should dump it. If you fall behind on your mortgage payments you WILL lose your TS clearance and your 35P MOS class seat and be reclassed SFC Private RallyPoint Member Tue, 16 Feb 2021 17:37:56 -0500 2021-02-16T17:37:56-05:00 Response by SSgt Christophe Murphy made Feb 16 at 2021 8:10 PM https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/reenlisting-as-active-duty-and-reclassing-will-i-get-bah-at-training?n=6752954&urlhash=6752954

You need to do your research and make a plan. And hoping for BAH ain't a solid plan.

You are going active which means the likelihood of you staying in the same place you are now even after training is slim. You are looking at orders somewhere and you to need to plan out what will happen with the house. Either you are selling it or you are renting it out. If you are worried about BAH that tells me you aren't independently wealthy enough to just keep it and figure things out down the road. Financial well being will negatively impact your clearance, MOS and overall career if you don't stay on top of things. I won't tell another adult what to do with their property but you need to figure it out sooner rather than later.
