Reclass to 25B or go ROTC? Not only for my military career, but life after the Army. Would like thoughts/opinions please. Thanks in advance!

Try to elaborate more...prior training, assocs, bachelors, what have you done thus far? Would you be willing to go other svc, like the just restarted Navy WO1 cyber program, or the Army direct commission cyber, if you stayed Army? I gather you're IT, from what I can see, however, the more you elaborate, hobbies, interests, reading, specific STEM coursework, grades, GPAs, the more all of us can try to help you, honest...also, do you want a full 20-30 yr career? Active? Guard? Reserve? AGR? Guard tech? Reserve tech? Senior enlisted? Warrant? Commissioned? Give us more, so far as you can, take your time, and really go into detail if you can, OK?

This is a little known facet of CS and IT, ops research is a very underused, under sought STEM field, very closely aligned and related to wargaming, I've had an interest in it since Army ROTC, I did a paper on it as a junior, the only ROTC award I ever got, mil history....

Sir,

Thank you so much for all this info! It’s a lot of things to go over but def see some great options and information here. Didn’t think I’d get so much information, but seems like you really know a lot about these topics. Will research and look into these and will conclude the best decision. I definitely wouldn’t mind switching services, even more so to go AF. Was not aware at most of this information..so thanks again sir!

Enjoy...if you wanna yak, just ask, try to elaborate as I'd said, as well, honest, the more you relate, the more all of us can suggest, I've done a good many like yours on here thus far, and that's genuinely how it works, most have a tendency to be quite brief, I tend to deluge with info, once I get on a roll, as it were, obviously, the thing is, I've absorbed not quite everything, however, I've seen most, and from multiple svc perspectives, that's why it's essential that you look at all of them, not just one, remember, it's not about what you want, so much as, ultimately, who wants you, you know?

depends on your situation and future needs...

25B isn't a super easy MOS either so you should check out the certs to see if that's rly what u wannna do...it leads to 17c or 25d with lots of places you can go within the army, not a bad mos, can lead to defense industry or dod after ur out too...it also requires clearance so comes in handy

ROTC, get commissioned obviously better money and all...

are you planning to retire with army?
do you have another skill or does ur current mos can lead to a good civilian job?

very different paths that really depends on your situation and need...im a 25b planning to go officer so shoot me a message if you got specific questions

Yes, I plan to retire with the Army. Why are you making the switch from Enlisted to Officer?

I decided to end up taking the MOS 25B reclass course but will start ROTC in the summer. When I had initially asked this question is was try help on my decision to either start ROTC in January or attend this 25B reclass course and start ROTC in the summer. I felt this was the best decision for me. Am looking forward to starting ROTC in the summer. I feel like doing officer is the best path for my future Army career goals.

I’m a 25B getting close to retirement. I can work afterward at an IT or cyber specialist. If I was a retired officer or O5 or above I could get a job anywhere simply because I’m an officer. Companies that work government contracts love to have high profile retired officers work for them. Go ROTC.
