Really why is there at least 2-3 new topics a week about RP and the point collectors? https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/really-why-is-there-at-least-2-3-new-topics-a-week-about-rp-and-the-point-collectors

Ok I literally see at least 2 post /questions a week about points and how people get them or don't get them. My questions is this. At which point is it really the same question? And who cares if people are the top point guy of June. Does it hurt you that much that you aren't? I say get rid of points because I am really tired of seeing people care so much about them. Many RPers enjoy them. The ones that don't can ignore it.

The points provide incentive for participation. I get it, and I support it. Why do you see questions about it? It is a site full of military folks who tend to be type-a uber competitive people who want to be the best. Does it matter? Not at all. I know I have a low number in my rating but I regularly come onto RP - even when I'm overseas. I consider that RP is a great for its camaraderie. We all have different reasons for being here AND most of us have more than one if we stay on-site long-term.

Yeah I got this ... a couple of years ago another member trashed me because he 'noticed' I was getting a couple of "100s" each time I logged on.
At the time I was logging in nightly for 4 days a week - usually around 2am.
I was working EMS in Louisville KY and my shift ended a midnight, but by the time we put the truck to bed, stowed equipment and ate our dinner it was around the previously mentioned 2am mark.
I would log in at RP, start reading and answering. After a couple of months the guy pops up with a post with a link to another post to where he had stated on how he hated people that just posted remarks 'to get points'.
I admit some of my posts were like, "Good Post" - a favorite way of mine to express thanks to the poster. Others were longer if I had direct knowledge on the subject. Many were where I would look up the appropriate subject matter then post the link I had found.
RP gave me an easy way to put the day's events behind me AND as yall know - new questions are at the top.
Anyway this guy berates me and I tell him roughly what I just told yall.
He didn't know me or even ask my situation - he just started in on me, as he was online at the same time. On the 4th or 5th cycle I simply blocked him. He's not the only one but he's the first. I refuse to have someone berate me because they want to attribute their perceptions about things to my actions. I haven't reported (that I can remember) anyone but blocking them is easy.
You don't have to put up with the haters. Enough said.
