I mean, why spend thousands of dollars, and hundreds of hours acquiring gear and skill sets...if you're not going to take every advantage available? I think it's safe to say few people are going to be turning to their carbine in a self-defense scenario. I can't think of any practical reason to "camo-paint" my M&P 9mm. On the other hand, if you live in a state where the 5.56/.223 is legal for hunting...or (hypothetically) you're using that weapon in a "combat" situation...I don't know why anyone would be head-to-toe in Multicam, while carrying a stark, black, rifle.

I do think rolling out on a range in North Carolina in the summer with a "desert camo" scheme makes little sense...unless you're deploying overseas. He had a glock 19 someone had given him as a trade in for something else since he had a gun shop. He painted it bright purple and yellow and called it the Barney glock. Was awesome to watch him smoke A class shooters on the range with Barney. It was given to me by a family member after other family members neglected it for years (I know every marine reading this is screaming right now and I was angry when I got it and saw how badly it was treated). I was thinking about getting a nice hogue overmold stock for it, but now looking at this I might try rattle can painting it this weekend and see how it looks. I personally like blued steel and wood, call me old fashioned, but bottom line is if you really want to break up the outline, painting really is not going to do the trick, you need covering to distort the lines to blend in to the terrain, hence ghillie jute or foliage.
