New SM's are lacking discipline, physical fitness, military bearing, and over all common sense. That's what I've noticed. However, it depends 100% on their attitude before and during basic and AIT of how they will come to the unit. I received some really great Soldiers recently. I have also had a few that with some guidance are improving and have potential. And we all have some that just decide to quit on not just the unit but themselves.
