I think the mental health issues will continue to be the most difficult because of both service and service member cultural issues. It appears to me that the Army, in particular, has continued to embrace the Patton model where PTSD is not a "real" problem, instead it's simply cowardice. Many military personnel have also internalized this view. These two factors mean that personnel do not seek out the help they may need. No Presidential, VA, or DoD initiative will get the traction it needs until prejudice against seeking mental health assistance begins to fade. <div class="pta-link-card answers-template-image type-default"> <div class="pta-link-card-picture"> <img src="https://d26horl2n8pviu.cloudfront.net/link_data_pictures/images/000/002/569/qrc/facebook_logo.jpg?1443022144"> </div> <div class="pta-link-card-content"> <p class="pta-link-card-title"> <a target="blank" href="http://www.legion.org">Veterans Organizations</a> </p> <p class="pta-link-card-description"></p> </div> <div class="clearfix"></div> </div> Response by SCPO Private RallyPoint Member made Aug 26 at 2014 3:12 PM 2014-08-26T15:12:50-04:00 2014-08-26T15:12:50-04:00 MAJ Robert (Bob) Petrarca 218363 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Sounds like a lot of boiler plate rhetoric to me. It's been said before and looked into before and gone unfunded before It's easy at the POTUS level to preach when their is no substance behind the alter, not unlike the joke that is the Affordable Health Care Act. POTUS needs to stop writing checks that "We the People" have to keep going to the bank to cash and find that no funds are available.
