More than not I see Soldiers/Officers/Civilians fiddling around in Microsoft Excel (one of our most used programs in the microsoft suite outside of outlook) and wasting hours upon hours trying to accomplish simple tasks. Use this forum to post your good news stories, horror stories, or helpful hints in Microsoft Excel. I am fluent in the program an will answer all excel related questions that have me tagged in it.

**Excel Time Saver TIP of the Day** - If you have imported a list of Soldiers or any information that may have a few pieces of informaiton all in one collumn (first name, last name, SS# etc.) that you wish to seperate you can easily do this by by clicking the "Text to Collumns" button, found in the Data tab, Data Tools in your ribbon (the top bar). This tool is simple to use by may be scary at first. Try it out and if you have any questions please post below.

One place that really helped me with EXCEL and learning to utilize it was http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/excel-help/training-courses-for-excel-2013-HA104032083.aspx They have a video for any excel function you may need. It starts from the basics and runs through advance functioning. I hope this helps.

Here's a quick tip that often surprises me when someone doesn't know it: If you want to see a quick sum or average of a set of cells without creating a formula, just highlight the group of cells. There will be an average, a sum, and a count of the number of cells highlighted at the bottom right of the window.

Thank you sir for creating this forum! One of my favorite features is the pane freeze. From a Window group you hit 'view' tab, followed by selecting rows, columns, or panes (all-inclusive rows and columns). If selecting panes, highlight the corresponding cell row and column upon which everything will 'pivot' before freezing panes

**Tip of the week** - Unless you are sending an excel file to someone for them to input data export it as a PDF first. Goto File and Export to PDF to send a clean, professional, and un-editable file for others to view.

To be a good leader: (1) One must really care and be passionate about what one is doing. (2) One must really care and be passionate about the welfare of one's subordinates....placing one's subordinates' needs and desires above one's own. (3) One must study hard; to gain knowledge about what one is doing. (4) One must be willing to plunge in and do the work that one's subordinates are doing. (5) One must set the very best example that one can set; for one's subordinates.
To sum it all up: CARE about, and HELP, YOUR SUBORDINATES.

Lynda.com has a great, but 6 hour long, training course going over a lot of the functions in Excel. That same training helps with Libre Office Calc.
