If you were given a slot, that was the soonest available slot. As a PFC, you should not be contacting branch. Talk to your career counselor. SFC Private RallyPoint MemberResponse by SSG Private RallyPoint Member made Jun 29 at 2020 8:02 PM2020-06-29T20:02:52-04:002020-06-29T20:02:52-04:00SSG Brian G.6055358

Does not work like that. Classes are filled on need. Money is allotted by DoD. Jumping classes causes all kinds of problems as it might short a class, like in 2021 and cause a delay in training. You need to just sit back, chill and wait for your class date to roll around. Do your job until then, prepare for the class and the physical requirements and go from there.Response by SSG Brian G. made Jun 29 at 2020 9:33 PM2020-06-29T21:33:22-04:002020-06-29T21:33:22-04:00SFC Private RallyPoint Member6055525

No, you cannot. You are given the earliest available class date. Even if a new class seat opened, they would not reschedule you. HRC reclass team has about three people working there and each is handling hundreds to thousands of cases per day. They don’t have time to cater to each persons desireResponse by SFC Private RallyPoint Member made Jun 29 at 2020 10:38 PM2020-06-29T22:38:44-04:002020-06-29T22:38:44-04:00SSG Private RallyPoint Member6055571

I'll chime in with the other NCOs that have already commented. You were likely given the earliest possible slot to get you started on the pipeline training. It has a long backlog as it is. To ask for anything earlier, it likely doesn't exist. Phase 1 training at Corey Station is a joint school, overlapping many MOSes, by all branches. On the rare occasion a seat may open up, let's say some sailor needs to reschedule, then Navy will have first option to fill it and it still wouldn't go to you. Should any of those others that have been waiting just as long to go to school for the past 9 months somehow needs to lose their place in line that are Army, there's likely all those other soldiers scheduled between now and your school date that might get offered a bump. Again, rare.

My advice, especially as one who trains many 17Cs, is to prepare the best you can. Go to MilSuite, and look up all the modules covered in JCAC, and work on learning topics you're not familiar with.Response by SSG Private RallyPoint Member made Jun 29 at 2020 10:58 PM2020-06-29T22:58:08-04:002020-06-29T22:58:08-04:00SPC Private RallyPoint Member6055746

No, you have been given the earliest class date. I wouldn't talk to branch about that.

By the way, all the "leaders" that are telling you not to contact branch as a PFC are completely wrong. That is toxic advice.

I had a leader early in my career tell me that it is my career so I should take control of it. If you let other people drive your career, you will never get where you want.

Ignore that advice, if you want to talk to branch about something, do it. There are no consequences, and if someone tried to punish you, that would be a disgusting display of toxic leadership.Response by SPC Private RallyPoint Member made Jun 30 at 2020 12:29 AM2020-06-30T00:29:23-04:002020-06-30T00:29:23-04:00CW2 Private RallyPoint Member6058377

I disagree with a lot of the responses. While it may be true that there are no sooner dates you should most certainly reach out to branch. Things do happen where slots become available sooner. I would give them a call and let your desires be known. I recommend reaching out to your branch manager At least yearly to update them on your goals, aspirations, and duty station preferences. That’s what they are there for to help YOU. I had a buddy who was given an earlier report date to HHC and ended up in my class when he wasn't even slotted for WOCS until 6 months later. Go for it and good luck!Response by CW2 Private RallyPoint Member made Jun 30 at 2020 3:47 PM2020-06-30T15:47:01-04:002020-06-30T15:47:01-04:002020-06-29T19:59:54-04:00
