This is the kind of PC crap that drives me insane. Your not paying any utilities, you are conveniently located close to your work, and most places you don't even have to do your own yard work.

If you don't like the bugle, move off post!

CSM (Join to see) - They make ear plugs too. They're really cool foamy things that you mash in there that will help mute stuff.

Hell...since I have a 5 year old, I could sleep through a nuclear explosion now. All the running through the house screaming "Giddie-yup horrrrrsssssieeeeeeyy" Some people are just too sensitive.

I enjoyed listening to Taps at the end of the night. It served to remind me that no matter how bad my day was, I would still be able to wake up tomorrow and that I should be grateful for that.

CPT Butler

Yep you are right, the 28 years I am still serving in the Army hasn't given me the opportunity to experience any "shift work". I am sure it is grueling duty and definitely a cause to shut down an over 200 year tradition.

Hopefully you can find nice accommodations off base so your body doesn't take an even greater toll.

Sounds like it is time to relieve a base commander. He/she clearly is not up to the challenge. These are the types of soft heads running things these days. Let's worry about a few complainers more than our traditions and rememberance of lives lost in the defense of this nation.

Why don't we stop flying all of those noisy air craft too, I am sure someone is bothered by all of the noise they create. I hope this is a joke, if not, where is the next level commander telling the base commander to grow up.

"Reducing strain". Honestly, are we going to eliminate morning colors and flight operations to reduce strain? Some folks may need to toughen up a bit and realize that there are many in the military serving in conditions far worse than them and things like morning colors and Taps come with the territory. They last a minute or so twice per day. Suck it up.

I assume Tyndall AFB doesn't have any form of aircraft on it. Otherwise, the noise from the jets might cause some families in housing to complain to the base commander. SHUT YER PIE-HOLE! That's the sound of freedom and it's time to stop allowing the pink-panty wearing "me-me-me" types to take over a culture that, quite frankly, doesn't care all that much about your personal schedules. Figure it out. Oh, and if you ask not to run by the housing areas in the morning in formation, you're going to find 600 Troopers singing about C130's, drill sergeants, and army chow tomorrow at 0630 doing laps around your house. I grew up on Army posts and I was woken up at 0630 every day by the sounds of infantrymen swearing to high heaven about anything from napalm sticking to kids to all kinds of fornicating with the local population. Now we can't play bugle calls on post. The military is not there for your convenience. Quite frankly, it's the other way around and we need to stop placating the first person that comes along and says that they don't like the color green.

Wow. Surprised you can hear taps over the sounds of supersonic jets coming and going. Or maybe they are only authorized to fly when they get the green light from officer's housing.

COL (Join to see) My wife (Japanese) and I just moved to Tucson and are next to our AF brethren. Every time she hears an engine she asks me "What sound that"....... "That's freedom, baby."
