Phase 2 is scheduled in ATRRS based on HRC's OML for priority. Active duty is the king of that hill. The issue is that the course is an online Black Board one that can only accept so many students at a time. They are backlogged as all hell and not everyone enrolled finishes the course. The OML goes like this: SSG in primary zone with ALC, SSG in primary without ALC, SSG with ALC, SSG without ALC, SGT with ALC, SGT without ALC.
After both of those courses are complete, the Soldier should be automatically enrolled in SSD3 to be completed online on ALMS.

All that said, I have yet to see a legally binding document that states "you must be a SSG to get ALC CC."
Response by 1LT Private RallyPoint Member made Dec 16 at 2013 12:14 PM2013-12-16T12:14:24-05:002013-12-16T12:14:24-05:00SFC Private RallyPoint Member21873

I completed my PH1/2 ALC as an E5 and am now just getting ALC CC as an E6 a few years later. I'll tell you my path as a medic. I was automatically enrolled in ALC. we have a distance learning phase, a CMF 68 phase (resident at Ft. Sam), and an MOS specific phase (resident at Ft. Sam). All of these parts are specific to CMF 68. When I showed up for the CMF phase at Ft. Sam, I was asked for my certificate of completion for the distance learning portion (of off BlackBoard by the way) as well as my certificate of completion for Common Core. I had no idea what they were talking about regarding common core. It wasn't a show stopper. The instructors made a note and moved on to the next student.

I came to find out that common core was what the non existent SSD2 should have been. I as also given the HRC memorandum that discussed the OML. I was attending as a SGT(P). That put me at the bottom of the OML after, what seemed to me, every other NCO in the army. I spoke to the cadre and my schools NCO, and received a common core slot for roughly five months after graduating ALC. Unfortunately, this meant I could not get completion credit on my promotion point work sheet until I graduated common core.

Depending on your MOS's cutoff scores and where this points are, he would probably benefit more from pushing his correspondence courses. He'll be able to accumulate those hours faster than trying to get into resident course. If he's already maxed out on correspondence courses, then never mind. hehe.

To address your specific question: I can't quote any regulation, but I have seen plenty of SGT's in my classes for all phases of this NCOES level, common core through MOS training.
Response by SSG Genaro Negrete made Dec 16 at 2013 4:38 PM2013-12-16T16:38:46-05:002013-12-16T16:38:46-05:00SSG Private RallyPoint Member21943

Sounds like bad info to me. I am currently a E-6 I was bumped out of two (2) resident ALC phase 1 classes due to lack of funding in the Oklahoma national guard. I am a 13B30 ALC instructor. I have signed my 4100 for the E-7 list and I just started the ALC-CC online on the 15th of April. What happens if I do not get this course complete prior to the E-7 list being posted? I completed my ALC 13B30 three years ago. I am the senior E-6 13B instructor at my RTI.Response by SSG Private RallyPoint Member made Apr 24 at 2014 6:25 PM2014-04-24T18:25:35-04:002014-04-24T18:25:35-04:002013-12-16T11:58:50-05:00
