I get on Facebook maybe once or twice a month, mainly to see what family members and close friends are doing. I don't want it to become a substitute for real, face to face communication but sometimes distances and finances prevent me from having that as often as I would like.

I am only on FB to have easy communication with multiple people I know in the service, old friends, and relatives who I never get see see anymore but maybe once every 5 years or so. It is an excellent tool, but like any tool, it can hurt you if you don't use it properly or fail to use proper safety in utilizing it. I keep all sensitive information off it, my profile is completely private, unless I know you, and I am hardly ever on it anymore. Maybe once a week, just to see if anything interesting has happened with someone in that close circle.

SGM (Join to see) Great article. I don't do facebook. I have a little more trust in RP as an organization.
