Pearl Harbor survivor denied transfer by the VA?

This Marine is being denied a transfer to the new VA facility near children because he does not have the 6 months of residency in California, even though he only left California because there was no VA facility near him at the time.

What is RP's thoughts?

Veterans Affairs doesn't seem to care much about the affairs of our veterans at all. Sure seems like a controversial name for what they are actually doing. Doesn't make any sense at all.

BULLSHIT. I would recommend we contact the Senators and Congressmen of this vet, but if he's in California we know that the majority of their politicians are anti-military/vet.

That's the problem when you write bills for one reason and then create another problem that the law did not consider prior to being laws. It seems to me there could be a resolution or exemption on an individual basis for these kinds of laws.

Here's where the term "VA" gets convoluted. It appears from the article that it's not the VA we all love and hate, it's the "State's" Veterans Home that has this requirement. The federal VA has some nursing home care units. Each State has a Veterans Home in which they receive some compensation from the federal VA. The State Veterans Homes in some if not all allows the spouse of the veteran to also be a resident. Unlike the federal VA which only allows the military member (of course if both are military members, then it falls upon the medical necessity of each veteran). So this family's beef is with the State of California, not "VA."

Nothing the VA does surprises me. I was injured in an IED blast in OIF III and they said that my TBI was not service connected. Go figure.
