I have order to report Feb2024 I am trying to change these orders and go somewhere else, how do I go about this? Is that even possible anymore? I want to be in Texas or South Oklahoma?

You can always ask your Talent Manager to change your assignment. But you will need to give a good reason. If you have professional development or KD goals that aren’t served by the assignment that might be a valid reason. Family issues can justify deferment or deletion but will require documentation.

However, your desire to be at a different location is not a factor. Without a good reason you will have to proceed on these orders.

Thanks SGM. Would being closer to kids due to divorce be considered? And my child is in efmp. So that’s how I ended up with the orders I have because she can get the care in this area but my ex is going back home. Since she is efmp and going maybe somewhere she can’t get the help would this help at all? And talent manager isn’t much help at all he says no to everything.

SSG (Join to see) I’m not an expert on how the Army adjudicates divorce, either for assignments or entitlements. I don’t know what your custody arrangement entails, but if you have custody a certain percentage of the time you can get BAH. I don’t know what that threshold is, but if you are at that level you should be able to keep them near a facility with the EFMP healthcare resources available at the local MTF or on the network. You aren’t going to meet that standard with “every-other-weekend” or something like that. But if you share custody that can be a factor. See your S1 and JAG office. I’m sure they can steer you in the right direction.

Not really possible, the best thing you can do get your planning rolling, housing, transportation, etc. the sooner the better unless someone has a better approach I said you are stuck with those orders...

Did you catch that he is apparently on recruiting duty. Recruiting always seemed to exist in their own little world. I would start with my local chain and work up. It may still be no, but he won't know if he doesn't ask.

Should have been clear on context of questioning and had provided the information missing...if he goes to Recruiting school then those orders might change...anyway, more info is needed.
