Korea. Japan, I'm not sure about. When I googled it, google says Infantry can be assigned to Japan, but I didn't see specific infantry units there. So yeah it's possible. Reenlist. Everything is moving south if Seoul to Camp Humphries. That will be the big “hub.” As far as family friendly, yes? It’s not Europe and geographically separated from literally everything. Japan is tough. There are not many assignments for infantry there; not for junior soldiers anyways. But if you’re speaking of the Pacific, there is always Hawaii! But if you’re looking to stay airborne then you need 4th BDE in Alaska. Good luck in your search. Stay Army. There is like one SSG/SFC 11B position in the USAR J Headquarters 3 shop. I PCS'd from Hawaii just over a year ago, I would certainly go back, there's plenty to see and do even if you're not a big fan of the beach. The hikes were absolutely amazing. The only issue is the island can start to feel small after a couple of years, especially if you're from a large state and like long road trips. I'm single though so I can't give much insight on family life there, going to the field was more frequent I think, but that depends on a lot of factors. Also, Pacific Pathways is always a possibility, rotating to Korea, Philipines, Indonesia, etc. for months at a time (anywhere from 2-6 months, we went to Korea for four months), without family. Hawaii and Korea most prevalent. Both have infantry. Training is training, simply a different environment the day to day are much the same.

Family life is what you make it. You will be gone a lot so your spouse is hopefully an independent person. I assure you neither is anything like Italy culturally, and the weather is a bit different in both as well. One can be wet, cold and miserable, the other wet warm and sunshine. Anyway it is your preference, as well as what is available.
