The left seems to attract "government solutions first" candidates stuck in 1930's fiscal policies and the right attracts gadflys the the establishment can't stand or establishment candidates that the activist base does not trust. We're lacking true statesmen that have the good of the nation as their guidepost. With the current crop I'd have to tend towards Rick Perry, former governor of Texas. 48% of new jobs in the past 7 years have come from Texas and not because they "helped", but because they stayed out of the way.
