Take the Marine Dress Blues. There is no way that will ever become "common."<br /><br />For service uniforms, the cuts are "similar" but the colors are representative of our Branches. It is essentially a business suit, with minor variations.<br /><br />Now, the Battle/Utility, the segregation makes sense. The Air Forces colors match runways. The Coast Guard has their matte Blue. The Navy their Digital Blue, and when attached to Marines or Army they inherit ours. The Marine colors of Tan OR Green make sense with our Littoral mission, as the places we have gone traditionally work with one or the other. The Army probably could have done the same, but tried to capture the best of both worlds with the ACU. The new pattern is superior and I think will work out well in the long run.<br /><br />So, all that said, I don't think a common uniform really makes sense from a functional perspective. We have different missions & different traditions which necessitate different uniforms. The previous BDU Woodland/Desert made sense for its era, but what we have now is better.Response by Sgt Aaron Kennedy, MS made Mar 3 at 2015 10:04 PM2015-03-03T22:04:22-05:002015-03-03T22:04:22-05:00LTC Private RallyPoint Member510238<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div><a class="dark-link bold-link" role="profile-hover" data-qtip-container="body" data-id="564735" data-source-page-controller="question_response_contents" href="/profiles/564735-12b-combat-engineer">SSG(P) Private RallyPoint Member</a> sure for combat uniform, but not for dress uniforms.Response by LTC Private RallyPoint Member made Mar 3 at 2015 10:12 PM2015-03-03T22:12:26-05:002015-03-03T22:12:26-05:00Cpl Doug Beckett510244<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>What common uniform?Response by Cpl Doug Beckett made Mar 3 at 2015 10:16 PM2015-03-03T22:16:05-05:002015-03-03T22:16:05-05:002LT Private RallyPoint Member510273<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>We have this discussion all the time..<br /><br /><a target="_blank" href="https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/would-you-support-a-standard-uniform-for-all-branches-of-service-why-or-why-not">https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/would-you-support-a-standard-uniform-for-all-branches-of-service-why-or-why-not</a>Response by 2LT Private RallyPoint Member made Mar 3 at 2015 10:29 PM2015-03-03T22:29:40-05:002015-03-03T22:29:40-05:00TSgt Private RallyPoint Member510275<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Honestly we have bigger fish to fry on severely limited budgets to be able to afford to seriously think about flushing a large portion of our funding on unneccessary new aesthetics.<br /><br />Not that that's stopped anyone in the past but that's my take on the matter.Response by TSgt Private RallyPoint Member made Mar 3 at 2015 10:31 PM2015-03-03T22:31:44-05:002015-03-03T22:31:44-05:002015-03-03T21:53:36-05:00
