MAJ Derrick J.177513

Most people know Dick Lamm as the former Governor of Colorado. In that context his thoughts are particularly poignant. At an immigration overpopulation conference in Washington, DC, filled to capacity by many government elites.

American's finest minds and leaders. A brilliant college professor by the name of Victor Hansen Davis talked about his latest book, "Mexifornia," explaining how immigration - both legal and illegal - was destroying the entire state of California. Lamm stood up and gave a stunning speech on how to destroy America. The audience sat spellbound as he described eight methods for the destruction of the United States.

He said, "If you believe that America is too smug, too self-satisfied, too rich, then let's destroy America. It is not that hard to do. No nation in history has survived the ravages of time. Arnold Toynbee observed that all great civilizations rise and fall and that 'An autopsy of history would show that all great nations commit suicide."

"Here is how they do it," Lamm said:

"First, to destroy America, turn America into a bilingual or multi-lingual and bicultural country." History shows that no nation can survive the tension, conflict, and antagonism of two or more competing languages and cultures. It is a blessing for an individual to be bilingual; however, it is a curse for a society to be bilingual. The historical scholar, Seymour Lipset, put it this way: "The histories of bilingual and bi-cultural societies that do not assimilate are histories of turmoil, tension, and tragedy." Canada, Belgium, Malaysia, and Lebanon all face crises of national existence in which minorities press for autonomy, if not independence. Pakistan and Cyprus have divided. I would make it an article of faith that the Black and Hispanic dropout rates are due solely to prejudice and discrimination by the majority. Every other explanation is out of bounds.

Third, "We could make the United States an 'Hispanic Quebec' without much effort. The key is to celebrate diversity rather than unity. As Benjamin Schwarz said in the Atlantic Monthly recently: "The apparent success of our own multiethnic and multicultural experiment might have been achieved not by tolerance but by hegemony. Without the dominance that once dictated ethnocentricity and what it meant to be an American, we are left with only tolerance and pluralism to hold us together." Lamm said, "I would encourage all immigrants to keep their own language and culture. I would replace the melting pot metaphor with the salad bowl metaphor. It is important to ensure that we have various cultural subgroups living in America enforcing their differences rather than as Americans, emphasizing their similarities."

"Fourth, I would make our fastest growing demographic group the least educated. The Greeks believed that they belonged to the same race; they possessed a common language and literature; and they worshipped the same gods. All Greece took part in the Olympic games. A common enemy, Persia, threatened their liberty. Yet all these bonds were not strong enough to overcome two factors: local patriotism and geographical conditions that nurtured political divisions. Greece fell. "E. Pluribus Unum" -- From many, one. In that historical reality, if we put the emphasis on the 'pluribus'. instead of the 'Unum,' we will balkanize America as surely as Kosovo."

"Next to last, I would place all subjects off limits; make it taboo to talk about anything against the cult of 'diversity.' I would find a word similar to 'heretic' in the 16th century - that stopped discussion and paralyzed thinking. Words like 'racist' or 'xenophobe' halt discussion and debate. Having made America a bilingual/bicultural country, having established multi-culturism, having the large foundations fund the doctrine of 'Victimology,' I would next make it impossible to enforce our immigration laws. I would develop a mantra: That because immigration has been good for America, it must always be good. I would make every individual immigrant symmetric and ignore the cumulative impact of millions of them."

In the last minute of his speech, Governor Lamm wiped his brow. Profound silence followed. Finally he said,. "Lastly, I would censor Victor Hanson Davis's book Mexifornia. His book is dangerous. It exposes the plan to destroy America. If you feel America. deserves to be destroyed, don't read that book.".

There was no applause. A chilling fear quietly rose like an ominous cloud above every attendee at the conference. Lamm is spot on!

IMHO we are being turned into a third world country by a combination of political parties (mostly Democrats, but the Republicans deserve their fair share as well), big business, our university system and political correctness.

Everyone should speak english and assimilate into American culture. If you don't want to, then leave. Or better yet don't come at all.

Education of todays youth is another subject, we have slipped from teaching math & science to LGBT studies (where is that even practical…anywhere). We have college students whose degrees are worthless.

As far as the Gov.'s point about a "I would make our fastest growing demographic group the least educated. I would add a second underclass, unassimilated, undereducated, and antagonistic to our population". Well look at the news, we have Federal Govt. that chooses not to enforce of border/immigration law. Are these illegal immigrants unassimilated-yes, undereducated-yes, antagonistic…take a look at La Raza's anti-white people credo.

Our so-called cultural/political/business elites are destroying our country, thats my two cents. Our country has to pull it around or we are heading toward another civil war.Response by SFC Private RallyPoint Member made Jul 14 at 2014 1:30 PM2014-07-14T13:30:08-04:002014-07-14T13:30:08-04:00SGT Thomas Sullivan177972

This is why I think we should have the American language, as I think English is a little too unpatriotic don't you think?Response by SGT Thomas Sullivan made Jul 14 at 2014 1:58 PM2014-07-14T13:58:55-04:002014-07-14T13:58:55-04:00CPT Private RallyPoint Member178405

I was going to avoid commenting because this is purely a copy/pasted piece of junk mail rhetoric, but when I saw that there was not a single opposing voice, I became concerned that some of the rank-power was causing silence.

I lived for 4 years in the Balkans. This kind of talk is the heart of Balkanization. First you target a "safe" population like immigrants (they don't vote, they broke the law; easy pickings) and blame all the country's woes on them. But the hate will spread like wildfire and targeted groups will seek to defend themselves. Soon each group will no longer believe that the central government will support "their people." They will decide that they need "one of their own" in power. Groups will demand to have their own land and splinter off from the whole. *This* is what causes the factions, the fight to force one's ways on another group, not peaceful coexistence. That's why America has been a diverse nation from inception and relatively free of internal insurgencies. There is no way to circle the wagons for the motherland at this point. The Serbs learned that the hard way. You might be able to fairly peacefully expel 5-10% of your population, but 30-40%, not a chance. Look at Rwanda.

This is hate speech masquerading as academics. The "America is going to end" talk is only younger than the "world is going to end" talk because America is newer. In 100% of these cases, the speaker is trying to get something from you. He/she does not want your allegiance for nothing. There is an agenda, a campaign to contribute to, and a person who is trying to rise to power.

What *will* end America is putting such a person in power.

I am not here to say we are even on the right track as a nation. I am here to issue a grave warning that this kind of divisive, nonconstructive, rant, free of workable solutions is meant to stir up the base, drive campaign contributions, and yield fist waving shouts of "'Merica." These people are not interested in solving problems. What problem would declaring English as the national language solve? The destruction of the American family...where is that? Is that because of all of the different cultures too? Crumbling infrastructure? Lackluster healthcare? I love when people tell me that immigrants are what is ruining healthcare. Right. As long as you ignore the fact that the costs from self-inflicted ailments brought on by obesity, smoking, and drug use spend $1,000 public healthcare dollars for every $1 spent on an illegal immigrant. But you can't target those people politically because they vote and they are exercising their freedom of speech (even while refusing to do the physical type of exercise).

Please think for yourselves guys! Don't buy into every email that gets forwarded. Don't be the dog that barks to a meaningless bell. We do not need that as a nation (or a military). We need good ideas and a bias toward action. Not empty rhetoric and more dollars dumped into the political machine.Response by CPT Private RallyPoint Member made Jul 14 at 2014 11:07 PM2014-07-14T23:07:18-04:002014-07-14T23:07:18-04:00LCpl Steve Wininger178841

MAJ Derrick J. Definitely thought provoking. Divide and conquer. I have been saying this for a long time. Governor Lamm just give the details of how the government is accomplishing it.

I also believe there are other ways that the divide and conquer strategy is being used. Many issues at the forefront today serve no purpose other than to divide the people and to keep attention diverted from real issues and scandals that seem to be plaguing the administration.

And Governor Lamm knows all to well about division since there was even talk in Colorado about splitting into two states.Response by LCpl Steve Wininger made Jul 15 at 2014 3:39 PM2014-07-15T15:39:40-04:002014-07-15T15:39:40-04:00LCpl Barney Gaumer559356

Profound!Response by LCpl Barney Gaumer made Mar 29 at 2015 2:19 AM2015-03-29T02:19:02-04:002015-03-29T02:19:02-04:00Cpl Chris Rice731343

1st understand that the United States has always been a polylingual, and this discussion goes back all the way the John Adams the 2nd president of United States when it was determined that the selection of a national language would be undemocratic, and would further ostracize non-English speaking citizens of the United States.

2nd the experience of the American melting pot is one of shared transformation and growth, to simply expect all immigrants or persons who celebrate a different heritage, or the same heritage but in a different manner to unilaterally work to change themselves to be more like you is unacceptable. Further the disparity in African-American and Hispanic dropout rates are due to a multitude of reasons, and I have heard many people speak on the subject without blaming the prejudice and discrimination of a majority, yet never going out of bounds on the subject. I wonder which crowds the governor is speaking to on the subject of minority dropout rates.

3rd I wonder if the governor could point to a time in United States history which could not be defined as a multiethnic and multicultural experiment. Aside from that I actually agree with the governor, and I think we should start with those who’ve been part of our society for the longest and have not assimilated as they should have a long time ago, I am of course and talking about the scoundrels known as the Amish and the Mennonites. Some of these Amish communities primarily speak German, they refused to serve in the United States military, and they don’t even drive cars how un-American can they be? How long are we given these communist hipsters the opportunity to assimilate our society; several hundred years?

4th typically the fastest growing demographic group in any society is the least educated group, and as such tend to have the least economic means. These lower economic statuses lead to lower contributions to tax revenue, and result in sub- adequate educational institutions, which in turn creates a situation where these students who may need a little more support are actually given less support. Regardless of whether a child is white, black, or green those in a lower socioeconomic standing are going to require more support to reach their full potential.

5th whether you feel that there is presently in the United States systemic racism that prevents minorities from reaching their full potential, it is undeniable that in the past when many of these large businesses and organizations were created they were necessary to provide support in organization against this systemic and often government sanctioned racism. This leads to the next point that is that it does not take a rocket scientist understand that bureaucracy works to ensure its own survival after it has served its purpose, or completed its goal. I’m sure many of us have had a March of Dimes event near our homes recently, please be reminded that the March of Dimes was established to help fund the fight against polio, since then the bureaucracy has found ways to continue its existence by altering its goals.

6th answering the points that the governor is making is getting exhausting he’s making the same point over and over and over again he is against multiculturalism. Which I personally have no problem with except that he wants to see people of different heritages completely forget where they’ve come from and forge themselves a new in his image, the only problem is who is to say that he is the American image. He talks about those who want to promote dual citizenship, yet from everything I can find on the gentleman he is against allowing those who come here to have single citizenship in this country.

7th if one wanting to question bilingualism in our society is racist and xenophobic why is it a proposal in every single Congress to make the official national language English? It would seem that those who are elected and must pander to their voter base would not wish to upset the general population by proposing a law that would provide such little change in the way the United States government operates, and is generally seen as something that would have to pass as a constitutional amendment because it would most likely be struck in the Supreme Court.

8th the American story is written by immigrants, and those stories have always spoken of the citizens who are already here who looked down upon them as they attempt to assimilate into their new nation. During this time crime is always higher, often times these people form gangs, and there is social tension as a result of the influx of population. However like the governor said it has been good for us in the past; why would we change something that isn’t broken? Further I would ask the governor if it is impossible for us to enforce our immigration laws why have we been able to deport undocumented immigrants at record levels?

There are far more than 100 languages that are being spoken in the United States at this time, and this is been part of our history since the beginning. The last time I checked barbaric practices such as female genital mutilation are illegal in the United States, somebody needs to explain to the governor that when we make a law that prohibits something it means that we as a people do not support that practice. Actually the final paragraph in this where he blames the Third World for taking our jobs, and then goes into a George Orwell thing, I mean who’s his speechwriter Sarah Palin?

Finally Governor Lamm and the gentleman or lady who wrote this need to go ahead and get together in a hotel room and get it on. Because whoever the writer is they are crushing hard.Response by Cpl Chris Rice made Jun 7 at 2015 4:05 PM2015-06-07T16:05:33-04:002015-06-07T16:05:33-04:00MAJ Matthew Arnold798011

Poignant & provocative, perhaps most importantly, it makes you think.

Over the years, I have watched each one of these ideas evolve so slowly, sounding so kind, so Christian, that they were hard to challenge, each one, one at a time, but together they look like a coordinated attack, rear attack, close attack, deep attack, with synergistic results, as if some great mastermind planned and executed it all.Response by MAJ Matthew Arnold made Jul 7 at 2015 5:02 PM2015-07-07T17:02:33-04:002015-07-07T17:02:33-04:00MAJ Matthew Arnold798076

I think, regardless of ones point of view, this is a good discussion.
