This Memorial Day
1. I will honor the memory of my family who served in the British Expeditionary Force in WWI - my paternal grandfather who died in 1963 and his brother who was killed with his wife by a Luftwaffe bomb hitting their home in southern England in 1941.

a. 1SG David Brewster was killed on October 22, 1992. He was a squad leader in my 2nd Platoon, 1/52 Infantry and he testified on my leadership when I was being reassigned for US Army Infantry Training Center, Fort Benning, Georgia in 1989
b. General Wayne Allan Downing died on July 18, 2007. He was by Brigade Commander in Bamberg FRG 1983-1984

a. David Nelson Shelley died on January 11, 2022

As I have done every year since 1973 I will be honoring Maj Nutter J. Wimbrow with a shot of straight vodka at 1200 on Memorial Day. Vodka shots were his drink of choice and I shared many with him at the club bars at UTapao and Anderson. John O. Dawson, served with Co. H, 7th Missouri State Militia Cavalry during the Civil War, W.I.A.

Jacob Dawson: My brother's son, 94F, Ft. Drum, died way too soon, kidney failure.

Living in Denmark it is illegal for me to fly the Stars & Stripes unless I have permission from the police. I will fly my Colors Monday, no matter what .

I have one cousin who fought in the Battle of the Bulge, one who served in the "Silent Service", others who were in the Idaho National Guard.

I am the 3rd or four generations that have served Honorably the United States of American. My Grandfather John Mork, Was in the US Army and was a Corporal in World War I. My Dad, Marvin Mork, was in the Korean and Viet-Nam Wars and Retired as a CWO 3, after 22.5 years from the US Army. My Father is Law, John Martin O'Connor, was an US Army Sgt in the Korean War. My Uncle, Bill Hoffman, served in the US Army in the Korean War, I am not sure of his rank. I served during the 'Cold War' era in the US Army as a Sgt. My Middle Son Nicholas Mork served in the US Marine Corps as a Corporal. My Wife Judy Mork served in the US Army during the Cold War as a Specialist 4. So lots of Military in our Family tree. There are others that also served during WWI, WWII, Korean, and Viet-Nam wars. We all gave some, and some a little more than others! ;-)
