Especially those of us with combat experience, did you find the book to be enlightening or a load of garbage? Personally, I thought he was full of it. The study that he built most of his book off of is highly suspect in its method, as well as its conclusion. I also cannot take seriously, on this subject, the opinion of a man who's never even been in the position to kill. The easiest thing you'll ever do in the infantry is set your sights on the enemy and pull the trigger. Now, once the fight is over, it might bother you a bit. It may stick with you for longer than you'd like. But in the heat of the moment, when the bullets are flying, I should hope that any infantryman worth his salt would not hesitate to do whatever it takes to get his boys home alive. On Killing. Is it 'in the black' or 'no impact, no idea'? 2014-10-17T06:24:26-04:00 Cpl Peter Martuneac 281511

What does the rest of the Rallypoint community think about retired LtCol. That said yes the study is very suspect.
Now Yes this is America still, and we can make money from being suspect, but to each his own. If the book was written by an E-3 to E7 level person I know it would be REAL and different.
I was taught you always bring them home period.
