With that being said, if BIG ARMY said you can get....would you get out of the Army? 2014-03-15T00:35:28-04:00 SFC Private RallyPoint Member 76250

Ok, the Army as a whole is about 500,000 lets say. The way the economy is and all the Chaos that's surrounding it the safest place despite the ups and down the Army goes through in staying in. The DOD recently released a memo authorizing the services to offer a voluntary separation pay to service members with over 6 years of service. I would guess that the Army will see a version of this in a MILPER by FY 2015.

I think that everyone should view the service in the military as a temporary job, even if it is a career. One day, we all get out and become members of society; many of us become entrepreneurs or enter the workforce after retirement. I plan on staying in until the wheels fall off... but, I love my job. Response by SFC Private RallyPoint Member made Mar 17 at 2014 6:57 PM 2014-03-17T18:57:07-04:00 2014-03-17T18:57:07-04:00 CPT Jacob Swartout 118497

I'm a couple of years from hitting 20 however, I plan on staying in for another 4 yrs or so. I wouldn't mind seeing what the Army would offer and decide if it financially makes sense. I can be safe to say I wouldn't get out until I decide to retire.

For me its really about serving/defending this country and having all the benefits as the main reasons I have stayed in so long. I'd jump on board. As it is, I have six years to go and look forward to hitting my 20 and looking for somewhere in the local government sector to serve.
