OCONUS PCS to Germany - if my dependents are listed on my orders, do they still need an EFMP screening to come to Germany with me ?

This is my first assignment (prior Reservist to Active Duty) I currently live in Houston and we do not have a MTF nearby. I would appreciate any information or guidance on how I can get started ASAP, I have to report in less than 60 days - thank you

Unless your orders state command sponsorship has been granted then you will need to have them go through an EFMP screening in order to be granted sponsorship.
A civilian or military doctor can fill out the screening form but an MTF with an EFMP section will have to review it and send it forward. The same thing happens when you're on a non-Army post, if you ever end up at a CONUS joint assignment.

Yes, it's part of the POM preparation for overseas movement process.

You also need the no fee passports with SOFA stamp. Especially if your spouse wants to work.

Yes, even if you have command sponsorship you need EFMP screening. Landstuhl has the EFMP office for the region, so it is a little easier for coordination, but the approval has to go to your branch for orders to be cut. Actually, the easiest way for you to do it is to take a day trip up the road to the EFMP office and BAMC at Ft Sam Houston in San Antonio. Call ahead to the EFMP coordinator, explain your situation and that you'll be coming from Houston, and ask them if they can make appointments for your family members to be screened while you're there.
