He did the right thing. It wasn't the time OR place to make a policy speech. It's not about him there.

Sgt Tom Cunnally - I hope if he does, it's NOT in Oregon, and back in DC where no one really GAF, and congress won't even listen to it. I firmly believe the president means well, and that his personal convictions are in the right place, but his solutions are jaded, and not very well advised to him, by those under him. Hell I love weapons, and some of Obama's ideas aren't that far fetched.

Sgt Tom Cunnally - It could be me, but I seriously don't think now is the right time for that. But I'm no politician. Me personally I think he needs to come back to DC and sit with his aides and try to find a workable solution to a situation with no solution. Fundraising be damned.

I think the tune changed once he (his staff) found out there would be protestors to his topic of discussion....hell, he will be bringing more guns (secret service) to the city....his home town (Chicago) has the toughest guns laws in the country and they have a dozen or so +/- murders every week...would have been like the pot calling the kettle black!

My thoughts are that he was there to console the grieving families. I don't think this is the place to discuss gun control.

SCPO David Lockwood - I think he scheduled the trip to further his BS gun control rhetoric, but his political handlers, seeing that it would backfire on him, changed it to a "humanitarian" visit.
