Recently O'Neill's home address has been published by a British Taliban sympathizer who has also called for O'Neill to be killed.

O’Neill appeared on US television last night to speak about the mission to capture the al Qaeda leader responsible for the 9/11 terror attacks in 2001.
The Navy SEAL who claims he killed Osama bin Laden has spoken for the first time to reveal the US Government had no intention of capturing the world’s most wanted man alive. While I'm not sure what protections are allowed by law or even what protections he might even want, he should be given some options....Though I'll bet he's got his CCP....And is ready at all times to use it...

21 Yrs as a Spook. Nothing stays classified forever. OPSEC tells me he should never have let slip enough of his information and involvement in the mission and shame on any teammate that did. They should know better. As far as Someone carrying out a "Hit" on him. Lets get real. He wouldn't be the first and won't be that Last to Include yours Truly (Yeah Khadaffi had a hit out on me and my crew and one attempt was made, Unsuccessfully, That Asshole is dead and the Attempt was while we were all still in London). He'll be fine. If he travels overseas as a civilian I would recommend some simple counter terrorism techniques to avoid any problems.

Not saying I wish him any harm but he kind of put this on himself with breaking rank with being a quite professional. There are many reasons to keep your mouth shut - retaliation being a big one.

For lack of this being a selectable option: NO, THE ONLY REASON A YONE KNOWS HE WAS THE TRIGGER MAN WAS BECAUSE HE LUT THE INFORMATION OUT THERE. Therefore any publicity or harm that comes from it is of his own "I am SEAL hear me roar" mentality. He wanted the recognition and publicity for taking the shot, now he has it and should deal with it on his own. He has made $$$$ off this and if there is a need for security he should be on the hook to pay for it, not Tom, Dick and Geaiegina public.

I feel for the rest of his family(wife/children) because his loud mouth "look at me, I killed Bin Laden" self congratulatory attitude has brought them into the cross hairs. Instead of thinking about his own ego and putting the information out there he should have thought about the security of his family!!

Strangely we don't know who the other operators are who partook in that particular mission...oh wait,they didn't show up on TV to declare. Regardless of his glory-seeking,he didn't commit a capital offense,but he and his father should take their security into their own hands. He's a normal Joe now and spout off regularly that if the haj wants them to come get them. Someone has taken them up on that offer and even though we're confident nothing will come of this,it is unnerving to see how easily your place of residence could become global knowledge. Sometimes it's just best to finish work,go home and sleep.

I know almost everyone is saying that he should have kept his mouth shut about the operation. Yeah I am pretty sure that it was not an easy choice for him to come out and say what he said. And if you want to believe all the rumors, and they are not hard to disbelieve, it seems that someone in the White House was getting ready to publicly out the entire SEAL team and support personnel. We already know that the White House was quick to specifically say that SEAL Team 6 did the deed, and in DC there is not one politician or political staffer who knows what OPSEC means.
Good or bad decision it was made and now he has to live with it and hopefully no wannabe martyr tries to track him down and successfully kill him.

The women who posted this is Sally-Anne Jones. The good news is her husband Junaid Hussain was killed in an American drone joint UK/US operation in August. He was a suspect in the beheading of US journalist James Foley as well as heading up the ‘Cyber Caliphate’ out of Mosul. Hussain was identified as the main suspect in the hacking of Twitter and Facebook accounts belonging to US Central Command. I wonder about the logic of those who say he should be on his own. Yes I realize OPSEC was violated. Would people feel the same if ISIS gathered a hit list that looked like this: Brandon Webb, Marcus Lutrell, Ventura, Wasdin, Erick Olson and Adm McCraven? All I did was google "famous seals" and found a list of about 100 dead and living SEALS.
I believe he should be afforded protection just like all our ex-presidents receive.

CPO Andy Carrillo, MS I don't really like any of the options on your survey. While I think that he should never have spoken out about his role in the mission that killed Osama, his family should not be endangered for his bad judgement. On a side note, I do not know how much stock to put into his claim. Anyone who has had a clearance knows that revealing classified information can lead to prosecution. The mission was classified. The operators identities were classified. Hel, even the damned helicopter that made the insertion was classified. If a person involved revealed any of that information, why wouldn't he have been prosecuted for it? I don't really buy a lot of conspiracy theory stuff, but what if he is revealing this as a smoke screen. What if he had nothing to do with the mission, and now is acting as a decoy to insure that the other SEALs are not compromised.

If he would have kept his mouth shut in the first place he would not have to worry about it. If he disclosed classified information, he should go to jail. Hillary should also go to jail for keeping classified information on her private server. Perhaps they both should share a jail cell.

Without knowing all the details, I would say that generally speaking I would want the U.S. government to provide protection, assuming the member followed all the rules. If, as some say, he blabbered too much and deserves what he has caused, I would still want the government to provide protection in addition to a minor reprimand. If this is just an artifact of us living in the Information Age, then this means the U.S. government needs to do a better job of protecting all information.

Regardless of how he got outed, the easiest thing is to just move. Put the house up for sale, some patriot will buy it for an excessive profit and go invest in a ranch somewhere and keep a low profile. No sense wasting money on such a well trained guy.
