New retirement plan for all new comer and optional for us already in... any thought?

Looks like it is going to be signed. So it will be a little bit less paid for the retiree, but have a separate money on the TSP. Looks ok for new comer, at least if something happen on their way toward 20 years, they still have a pot of money in the TSP to "do" something with. I think this is a good system, it take care of all range of veterans.

I heard many stories of service member that served 18 years .. and then quit with nothing ... so this would really help those kind of future service members.

Troops will have two years to get ready for the massive overhaul of the military retirement system.

Every option should be looked at. The fact is that the government currently has unsustainable obligations and many of the allegations are retirement plans.

I kind of like the idea....
1. the all or nothing did lead to some retired, on active duty.
2. a 38 year old drawing a check for the rest of his/her life is hard to sustain, fiscally.
