670-1 and a new accompanying DA Pam within the next few weeks.  These long-awaited uniform policy publications will replace more than 50 ALARACT<br />messages and include new policies on many topics such as tattoos, fingernail<br />polish, and general uniform wear.  Some<br />of the contents will also be punitive.<p> </p></p><p><br /><br /></p><p style="margin:0in 0in 0pt;" class="MsoPlainText">The Army is a profession. <br />Policies within these publications give Soldiers and leaders the responsibility for ensuring our<br />appearance reflects the highest level of professionalism.  All adjustments made within these regulations went through an extensive decision-making<br />process with continuous input from various levels of Army leaders.<p> </p></p><p><br /><br /></p><p style="margin:0in 0in 0pt;" class="MsoPlainText">Leaders at all levels will play a vital role in educating<br />subordinates and</p><p style="margin:0in 0in 0pt;" Interested to see what surprises lay in store.<br> Response by SSG Private RallyPoint Member made Mar 7 at 2014 6:12 AM 2014-03-07T06:12:31-05:00 2014-03-07T06:12:31-05:00 SFC Private RallyPoint Member 71307 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I am excited to find out what the new regulation entails, but there are some points that I heard about that I really don't like very much.  I don't know if these points will be in the final draft signed by SECDEF, but we'll have to wait to see...<div><br /><br>The first is the possible civilian clothing rule change.  I have heard everything from being required to wear slacks and a collared shirt when leaving the house, to simply wearing clothing the way it was meant to be warn (no sagging pants, etc.).  I agree with the part about wearing clothing how it was meant to be worn, but I don't think any particular style of dress should be mandated, especially when off duty and off post.  Unless the Army gives me a civilian clothing allowance, the Army shouldn't tell me what kind of clothes I must wear as long as they are tasteful.</div><div><br></div><div>The second rule I am hesitant about is the supposed new tattoo policy.  I agree that tattoos should not be on the face, neck, hands, or any place that can be seen in dress uniform.  I also agree that extremist or indecent tattoos should not be allowed either.  Aside from that, I don't think the Army should restrict tattoos.  What I heard was that they wanted to ban tattoos from the elbows down and the knees down.  I don't agree with this, partly because I have tattoos below the elbows and knees.  I have heard that we will be grandfathered in for prior existing tattoos, but I still don't agree with the restriction.</div><div><br></div><div>I guess the bottom line is that it doesn't matter much what I think once it is signed and official.  As an NCO, it is my responsibility to uphold the standards it sets, and that is what I intend to do.  I just hope it doesn't make me have to go against my personal beliefs at the same time...</div> Response by SFC Private RallyPoint Member made Mar 7 at 2014 6:55 AM 2014-03-07T06:55:14-05:00 2014-03-07T06:55:14-05:00 SFC Private RallyPoint Member 85136 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I went through the training today and I have to say that for the most part I agree with all of the changes. I do however disagree with the traveling in uniform part.
