NCO Vanishes before courts-martial on child porn charges! What are your thoughts?

A soldier facing court-martial on child pornography and other charges went missing the day before his scheduled courtroom appearance at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, and remains on the loose.

A warrant has been issued for the arrest of Staff Sgt. Ulises Moore-Ramirez, who had been cooperating with investigators, a base spokeswoman said, as they sought to convict him on 13 specifications of sexual abuse of a child (non-touching), five specifications of attempting to commit such abuse, seven specifications of extortion, one specification each of manufacturing and possessing child pornography, and one count of obstruction of justice.

The hearing was set for Thursday, spokeswoman Tiffany Wood said in an email. Moore-Ramirez hasn't been seen since Wednesday.

St. Louis' Fox TV affiliate reported that Moore-Ramirez, with 1st Engineer Brigade, allegedly used graphic language online in an attempt to convince underage girls to send him nude photos.

The soldier faces a maximum punishment of 316 years behind bars if convicted on all counts, Wood said, as well as loss of pay and allowances, reduction in rank to E-1 and a dishonorable discharge.

Moore-Ramirez's disappearance has earned him a spot on the Army's online most-wanted list. The site lists him as 39 years old and 6-foot-1, with family ties to the Missouri area and to Mexico, his place of birth.

They let this gentleman wander around after they busted him and he turns up missing on court day.

1SG Private RallyPoint Member, I always like to think things like this are not true, in terms of charges, but that's a long list to get beyond. I can't imagine why the Army let him wander around on his own recognizance. I'll bet he's headed south, and once outside the U.S., he'll be untouchable.

Like my dad used to say " if you f*** up, own up." Too bad this coward did one and not the other. Someday, hopefully soon, he will be caught and tried for the crimes he is accused of committing. Until then I hope and pray that he never draws an easy breath and is constantly looking over his shoulder for law enforcement. And now they can add a new charge, AWOL until that changes to desertion.

My advice to this individual would be to turn himself in and face the charges. Just my opinion.

Looks to me, given the charges and the probable long sentence, that he should have been considered a flight risk and been in pre-trial confinement.

My opinion is that he has either fled the country or has committed suicide in an unknown location.

Not exactly the actions of an innocent man. Next we hear, he will likely be found dead of a self-inflicted wound. Too bad. Those kids deserved to get justice.

are you sure he went missing or wasn't "TAKEN CARE OF" ...CIA does this all the time...
