I believe this would be a well rounded person who have a better insight of the enlisted personnel needs and their expectations. SCPO Nemeth, I want to share some top secret information for you, this Football Season coming up the Army will be the Navy. If anybody ask where you got this information you didn't hear it from me, "GO ARMY BEAT NAVY." I often stopped by the Chief's Mess for coffee. Heard a couple of "traitor" jokes, but it only gave me the chance to dish it back (as was expected). Loved my time as a Chief/Senior Chief and loved my time as a Warrant.Response by CWO3 Bryan Luciani made Jun 17 at 2014 8:39 PM2014-06-17T20:39:19-04:002014-06-17T20:39:19-04:00CWO3 Bryan Luciani156986<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Nicholas, Congrats on your selection. Take care of your Chiefs like you did your LPOs and you won't miss a beat. You are no longer part of the Chief's Mess. Now you square away the Wardroom and those knuckle head JO's and junior (E-6 type) LDO's. Have fun!Response by CWO3 Bryan Luciani made Jun 17 at 2014 8:44 PM2014-06-17T20:44:10-04:002014-06-17T20:44:10-04:00SCPO James Wightman157654<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I have great respect for LDO's and CWO's. It's a narrow path they walk, remembering where they came from but letting go of what they did. They were selected for their knowledge as well as leadership, but doom on them if they try to continue to be a Chief. On the other side, the wardroom is trying to teach them to be an officer. Learning to be an officer and understanding that the unit (platoon, division, detachment) is now yours but the personnel are the Chief's is hard, especially if the Chief has a different way of doing things. I had this conversation (many times) with an LDO I deployed with that had worked for me prior to going officer. I found that I had to answer more questions because he knew a lot more of the process than a Line Officer, however I had more firm support because he knew how to get things done, being a prior Chief.Response by SCPO James Wightman made Jun 18 at 2014 1:35 PM2014-06-18T13:35:02-04:002014-06-18T13:35:02-04:00PO1 Private RallyPoint Member157717<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Senior Chief, 2 things: <br /><br />1. Ultimately it is your career, your direction, and your retirement check. Other chiefs looking down are the ones who are jealous, too hung on 'good ol' boys cliques' or have other internal issues many of which they may not even be aware of.<br /><br />2. Your personal gut check comes into play. Are you going to fall for the 'cliques' or follow your heart? Do you (in general) realize that life moves on, that they will have to move on as well, and you'll be a better man as a result?Response by PO1 Private RallyPoint Member made Jun 18 at 2014 2:26 PM2014-06-18T14:26:03-04:002014-06-18T14:26:03-04:002014-06-16T18:08:07-04:00
