On subs, we had to train for all the emergency drills AND SHARP stuff (waaaay before there were women on submarines). We got Sexual harassment training til we choked on it... and it still happened. That's my biggest fear, that they might not be. I understand being politically correct and not wanting to hurt somebody's feelings. I'm not trying to knock it just wondering out loud. Will the next war be fought with video games and unmanned craft? He had the usual, loss of shaft lube oil, flooding in the torpedo room (same time), and a fire in the galley (burned toast). Then he got hit with "request to shoot trash". This caught him by surprise. As he was stunned by the audacity of that request in the middle of the casualties, he got the request to blow sanitaries (the tank where everything from the sinks and toilets go). These types of things were hitting him all at the same time to see how he would handle being under heavy pressure.

My job in this as a senior electricians mate was to go and start changing lights around him and testing the emergency lighting.

So all this was going on and he suddenly grabs the 1MC (shipwide PA system basically) and says "LIBERTY CALL! LIBERTY CALL! We are all dead anyway so enjoy your last few moments alive!"

ROFL

Oh, he did pass because he handled the important "casualties" properly. And the CO loved his "bearing under pressure". PO1 Donald Hammond Mon, 01 Jun 2015 18:37:19 -0400 2015-06-01T18:37:19-04:00 2015-06-01T00:49:17-04:00
