My Wife has a link to Military Wives on Facebook. How many of you take your wives to your Service School like BOLC/CCC/ILE or CGSOC?

I need your help. My wife believes, from reading Facebook Military Wives, page, who say untruths like that when attend Military School like Basic Officer Leadership Course, Captain's Career Course, Command & General Staff Officer College, etc. that the Officers/Students don't study much and Military Wives Facebook alleges infidelity by rank and file. I want your honest opinion. I am talking ARNG/USAR.

I was newly married when I arrived to OBC in 2002. My wife (who incidentally was in dental hygiene school) was luckily 250 miles away and came every weekend I was there in San Antonio, with the exception of the field one weekend. I did not mind one single bit spending all the time I could, because I was about to go to Korea for a one year unaccompanied tour while she finished school.

In regards to your wife, there was a "frat house" mentality while I was there in OBC. Many married people forgot their marriage vows while they were there in San Antonio. Your wife has reason to worry.

I'm sure there are some that use schools as a way to cheat or otherwise get away from their spouses. At the last school I was at, CGSC, all of the soldiers and spouses I was with used it to improve their relationships, families, and marriages, as did I.

My spouse does not travel with me to any school. In BOLC and CCC we did study during the week for tests. There were chances to go out and there is always a possibility of infidelity. If you have a strong marriage and trust each other it shouldn't be an issue.

I have never brought my wife on training and have four 12 month deployments. We have been married 25 years and four children. You must trust and engage each other in their goals and plans.
If another person becomes attractive to you, you must choose to avoid habits that cause you to be tempted and refocus on your spouse. Don't hang around spouse cheats or go to strip clubs, it sets the stage for infidelity. Long term relationships- It's a marathon, not a sprint

I have brought my wife to one course (pre-BN CMD), because there was a relevant bit for her. I am taking her with me to the AWC Second Resident Course - we start driving Tuesday - because I'd like her to see me graduate and because we are incorporating a few day's vacation at her parents. All other courses, I have gone alone.

I have observed enough "what happens on TDY stays on TDY" behavior in my career not to pretend it doesn't happen. However, I tend to think that those who feel the need to "go to protect their marriages" are already too late.

My family came along every time it was possible! There is plenty of opportunity for the Army, or any service, to keep you apart from them so take advantage and exploit the opportunies towards your advantage!

LTC Private RallyPoint Member I never brought my wife along for any of those events due to the distance and expense. Most of the time they were working anyway! I never had time in any of those courses to mess around. I would usually find some guys that were ready to work out, run in the mornings, and take in the local battlefields around Fort Lee, VA and other locations. That doesn't say some individuals didn't cross the line. I was focused on my career - that was just me!
