We used to have a particular detail "Shit Burning" that I hated, but somehow now in my twisted mind, nothin but fond memories of "Shit Burning", got the patch on my motorcycle vest to show my pride. 1-23 Infantry Regiment "Tomahawks", 2nd ID, Camp Hovey, Korea circa 1985. The patrols were awesome and put ones skills to the test as far as straight legs go, dont know exactly how many patrols these legs did but I was up on the Z every chance I got! I was there 96-97, Thank God "Shit Burning" Detail wasn't a detail anymore. There were still plenty of details to go ahead though. I remember KP. I also remember "area beautification" when anybody important decided they might take a stroll thru your area. I was Artillery, I remember how strange it was to drive thru the narrow streets on the towns there. The Section on the headset shitting bricks about you possibly running the tube thru someone's business.(I guess that happened). Not being able to take the bridges and having to forge the water flowing underneath them was fun. Between the wall of shame back to Hovey from Casey after the bars at night, the turtle farm, hooker hill, etc I had a pretty good time there. There were memories made. I was a 19 yr old single guy. I just wished I had saved more of my money during that tour.
